Summary:

The project “Upgrade the HVAC System, Building 132 was located on the New Boston Air Station located in New Boston New Hampshire. The prime contractor was Toltest, Inc. located in Maumee, OH. Toltest provided the PM and SSHO/QC personnel only. FMI’s scope was 100% of the work performed for this project. The scope included removal of the existing HVAC system and design and installation of a five (5) ton split system Heat Pump with a 20 KW electric heater, all new zoned ductwork, Air Cleaner, Humidifier and associated controls, also the Landscaping of the general area around the Security Force Guard shack internal to the High Security Area of the station. Installation of a Emon Demon Energy Monitoring system for the Security Forces Guard House. The scope also originally contained wall and ceiling removal and redesigned interior layout but due to budget restraints the scope was reduced to replacement of the upholstered seating in the waiting area.

Results:

The main complication of this project involved the ability to move freely in and around the work site. The area the Heat Pump was installed in was inside the secured portion of the Station and required private security forces to accompany all workers. The system was installed with FMI direct personnel to releave some approval issues with local subcontractors. The project was turned over and accepted by the client on time and within budget.
