Summary:

The Combat Communication Operations Facility was a new construction project located on the North air field of the Anderson Air Force Base on the Pacific Island of Guam. FMI was the HVAC subcontractor for the project from design to turnover. We mobilized our site foreman to the island for the project and hired local tradesmen to man the project under our direct supervision. The site was quite remote and the island proved to have limited supplies and equipment. The planning of approved personnel, equipment and materials were our largest issues. With our mainland team, we managed to secure the materials and equipment and scheduled shipment via ocean freighter to the island. No delays were experienced from our scope. The project involved the fabrication of all required ductwork for two (2) thirty (30) ton split systems, refrigerant piping, equipment and DDC control system (JCI).

Results:

The project experenced some delays caused by Electrical and General Contractor but was turnedover to the client with no objections. The project was designed as a LEED Silver design but with everyones hard work it was awarded LEED Gold.
